Kevin McKenna is an award-winning filmmaker and sociologist. He has been extremely involved in the sociological aspects of the homeless situation in America. Furthermore, he has written - and published - over 100 newspaper and magazine articles on social concerns and issues.
In 2002, he founded, and at present serves as the Executive Director of IDEAS (Investigative Documentaries Educating American Society); its mission is to educate the American people on important social issues by way of documentary films and videos. As well, he was Executive Director of the Burbank Temporary Aid Center. And he worked for many years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Burbank.
He is an authority on sociological characteristics of mental illness, in conjunction with the homeless situation in America. What's more, he recently completed an extensive research paper on the subject, and is now finishing a book on homelessness.
In addition, he recently produced and directed a critically acclaimed documentary film on mental illness, addiction and homelessness, which is being shown in small theaters, as well as colleges and universities around the country.
His non-profit experience includes: Executive Director, Board of Directors, committees including: Executive, Founders, Marketing and Resource Development. He also served as Board President, Secretary, and as the editor of several nonprofit newsletters.
Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of the International Student Film Festival Hollywood and the Advisory Boards for the International Child Abuse Network.
